404 Error: The 404 or Not Found error message is a HTTP standard response code indicating that the client was able to communicate with the server, but the server could not find what was requested. (Wikipedia)
A 404 error page is normally the page user trying to visit does not exist and guides them to navigate the site to get the information that they want. 404 Not Found error messages can appear in any browser and in any operating system.
Technically, an Error 404 is a client-side error, either because user typed the wrong website address or the page has been moved or removed from the website. Normally a good developer will always redirect the moved or deleted page to the new URL. The error will be shown only in case the deleted or removed page is not redirected.
404 Not Found error messages are frequently customized by individual websites, so keep in mind that the 404 error may show up in just about any way imaginable depending on what website it’s shown from.
Last week, we went through some latest website designs and stumbled how designers are working with the customized 404 error page designs. We collected around 21 examples and showcasing them here.
